The best way to know it is by trying it so...take a tank with water and take some objects.

Afterwards, make a list or a chart to classify them.

Contents  – Contenidos

1.- Mixtures – mezclas

o          There are things that mix well. Sugar + water.

§      Hay cosas que se mezclan bien. Azúcar y agua.

o          There are things that don´t mix well. Rice + water.

§      Hay cosas que no se mezclan bien. Arroz y agua.

o          We can separate mixtures by sieving or evaporating.  Podemos separar las mezclas colando o evaporando.

§      Sieving: rice and water. Utilizando un colador: arroz y agua (el agua pasa y el arroz se queda en el colador).

§      Evaporating: salt and water.  Evaporización: sal y agua (con el calor, el agua se evapora y la sal se queda en el recipiente).

2.- Changes – cambios.

o          We can change the state or the shape of the objects. Podemos cambiar el estado o la forma de los objetos.

§      By heating and cooling. Calentando o enfriando.

·                          Water: water changes from solid to liquid by heating. Agua: el agua cambia de sólido a líquido al calentarse.

·                          Water: water changes from liquid to solid by cooling. Agua: el agua cambia de líquido a sólido al enfriarse.

§      Some changes are reversible and some are irreversible. Algunos cambios son reversible y otros no.

§      By forces - fuerzas

·                          Stretch – estirar

·                          Bend - doblar

·                          Squeeze – estrujar

o          Reversible changes (change back). Squeeze a ball. Cambios reversibles (vuelven posición original). Apretar una pelota.

o          Irreversible changes (not change back). Squeeze an orange. Cambios irreversibles (no vuelven a su posición original). Exprimir una naranja.

3.- Forces and movement – fuerzas y movimiento.

o          We pull or push things to move them. Empujamos o tiramos de objetos para moverlos.

o          Magnets move things towards them if they are made of metal. Los imanes atraen objetos hacia ellos si están hechos de metal.
